Virtual Voice-Trax roots go back to the mid 70's, when company President Ford Colley successfully experimented with Voice Tracking, using a Schaefer Reel-to-Reel Tape Automation System. In 1980, while serving as Program Director for CBS owned WBBM-FM in Chicago, he developed regular Voice Tracking of all shifts outside of morning and afternoon drive. While Vice President of Consulting for Bonneville Broadcasting Systems in 1990, he was instrumental in developing the first All-Digital Automation System known as 'Desktop Radio' ... laying the groundwork for what has become an industry standard. Later in 1993, after starting his own consulting firm, Broadcast Consulting Services, Colley was the first to use ISDN telephone lines to send daily Voice Tracked Air Shifts from one market to another, and in 1997, Broadcast Consulting Services' Virtual Voice-Trax was the first company to use the Internet for delivering regular daily Voice Tracking from market to market.
